A Rain in the Perspective of Islamic
Rain is a water sent down by Allah SWT from the sky, and it is full of blessings for living things that believe in Allah SWT. Allah SWT says in Q.S Qaf verse 9: "And We send down blessed rain from the sky, bringing forth gardens and grains for harvest,". Referring to how it is made, Allah SWT says in Q.S An-Nur verse 43: “Do you not see that Allah gently drives the clouds, then joins them together, piling them up into masses, from which you see raindrops come forth? And He sends down from the sky mountains ˹of clouds˺ loaded with hail, pouring it on whoever He wills and averting it from whoever He wills. The flash of the clouds’ lightning nearly takes away eyesight”. Allah makes it clearly in Q.S An-Naba' verse 14: “and sent down from rainclouds pouring water”. Based on the number, Allah SWT says in Q.S Az-Zukhruf verse 11: “And ˹He is the One˺ Who sends down rain from the sky in perfect measure, with which We give life to a lifeless land. And so will you be brought forth ˹from the grave˺.
Although rain can bring blessings, rain is also a reminder for people who think. In a history told by ‘Aisyah RA, she said: "If Rasulullah SAW saw clouds or wind, his facial expression would be different." 'Aishah said, "O Messenger of Allah, if people saw clouds, they would be very happy. They hoped that it would rain soon. But it's different with you. If you see clouds, your face will show signs of displeasure." Subsequently He said, "O 'Aisha, what can make me feel safe? Who knows, this might be a punishment. And once a people were punished with the coming of the wind (after that). This people (namely the people of 'Aad) when they saw the punishment, they said, "This is a cloud that will rain down on us." (H.R. Bukhari and Muslim).
The 'Aad people received two doom after lying to the Prophet Hud AS, whose story is immortalized in Q.S Hud: 53, Q.S Al-A'A'raf: 65-66, Q.S Al-A'A'raf: 65-66, Q.S Al -A'A'raf: 69, Q.S Al-Fajr: 7, and Q.S Fushshilat: 15. The first punishment given to the people of 'Aad was that their land became barren and there was a prolonged drought, then the people of 'Aad asked for rain, then they saw something appear in the sky. The 'Aad people thought this water was a blessing, but it turned out to be a second punishment that came in the form of a wind storm, very cold rain water, and loud thunder. This punishment lasted without stopping for seven nights and eight days, causing all of 'Aad's people to die lying in the ground.
Referring in the al-Quran and hadith, we as Muslims can do good deeds when it rains. There are four practices during the rain process, namely; i) don't criticize the rain, ii) pray, iii) let some of your body parts be exposed to rainwater, and iv) take blessings when it rains. Hopefully we will be given the opportunity to carry out these practices according to the guidance of the Prophet SAW
